Heat & P.E. Policies
PE Policy with Regard to Outdoor Heat/Temperature
Heat stress increases with increases in air temperature, but be aware that there are no clear demarcations in risk between temperature ranges. However, at relative humidity levels above 50%, stress increases markedly.
Assuming the relative humidity is above 50%, the following ranges will dictate appropriate actions:
80-91.0 degrees Fahrenheit:
This range is considered "Limited Intensity"
Accommodations: increase the number of water breaks
91.1 degrees Fahrenheit:
Postponement or cancellation of outdoor activities will occur.
