Welcome to the Del Dios Academy of Arts and Sciences where we are preparing for college and career, every day. Students, in partnership with DDAAS faculty and staff, engage in meaningful academic tasks in preparation for participation in high school, college and 21st century careers. Del Dios Academy curriculum is student-centered, focusing on the 21st century skills of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Del Dios Dragons are preparing for college and career readiness today, in order to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Whether students are engaging in literary analysis or scientific inquiry, they are engaged in high-level thinking activities enabling them to become academically competitive. Embedded in a student's daily schedule at DDAAS are challenging electives such as MESA, Digital Media, Journalism, Competition Band and Show Choir, Dance, Fine Art, and Athletic Training.

Campus life at Del Dios involves being part of a House family: Water, Fire, Metal, Sky, or the Guardians; and upholding the DRAGON Pillars of Success in our daily work. These pillars include Determination, Respect, Achievement, Goal-Setting, and making No Excuses.

Del Dios Middle School, located in North County San Diego, was founded in 1962. It is one of six middle schools in the Escondido Union School District. In 2014, the Board of Education approved Del Dios to become a “specialty school”, which will allow students to focus on S.T.E.M. or V.A.P.A. pathways. Through core content and special elective offerings, students will be able to concentrate on either S.T.E.M. or V.A.P.A elements. To reflect the specialty school status, Del Dios Middle School was officially renamed to Del Dios Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2014.

Del Dios Academy of Arts and Sciences is committed to instilling within ourselves and the community the values of the Dragon Creed (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible). Our S.T.E.M. and V.A.P.A. pathways will prepare Del Dios Dragons for college, career, and civic life through inquiry, problem solving, and communication in order to make global contributions.

In the first year at Del Dios, students will be able to explore both STEM and VAPA elements. The students will be part of an exploratory wheel, that will rotate through multiple classes a year. Once students understand more about each pathway, they will be able to choose one pathway to focus on. They will be able to participate in year-long classes dedicated to STEM or VAPA elements. This vision allows students to become empowered in their education, pursue classes they are most passionate about, and to prepare them for their future endeavors in college, career, and civic life.
